I tell ya what. If you're ever bored, have a baby and start a business. Whew. You'll hardly have time to sleep, much less write blog entries.
It's been a busy two weeks, to say the least.
(Here's for the boring John and Mal update) It started Nov. 8 and goes until today, Nov. 21. That week was normal. Things are heating up for John's program, so he worked a lot. I watched the babies and during naptimes, I worked on my photography business. That weekend we went to Grand Rapids for the Bruce Springsteen concert in Detroit. Then John studied and I caught up with friends. It was so good going out and catching up with everyone.
We came home and got slapped with a speeding ticket - awesome! Then went back to work.
Anyway, blah blah blah we paid bills, bought groceries, ate, stayed up all night so we could get good seats for our tickets to New Moon (just kidding), slept, woke up, blah blah...
On to Liam, the reason I write this blog.
Liam, liam, liam... I love him so much I feel like my heart is going to explode. I love him so much I can hardly stand it. He is becoming a person, not my little baby, but a person. I said it in the last entry, but I'll say it again. I feel like I am falling in love with Liam all over again, in a new way.
In these past two weeks, he has developed real interests. He loves books now. LOVES THEM! We were joking that he was such a thrill seeker and not a book nerd like we are, but alas, we have hope yet. ;) Moo Baa Lalala is old news and SO old that if John or I pull it out to read it, he pushes it out of our hands and pulls another one out. So, we are on to the book Hands Can, which is fun and interactive. "Hands can wave to say hello," etc. There is one line, "Hands can learn to say 'I Love You", where we lean in for a hug. And through this, Liam learned how to hug. It may be the greatest joy I've ever felt. My boy reaching in for hugs. I think my heart might actually break the day he tells me he loves me for the first time.
Liam loves lentil dal, veggie burgers, and feeding himself his morning oatmeal. If he likes something, he'll make the sign for more, but when he dislikes something or is finished, he'll shake his head no. He sleeps until 9:30am if we are also sleeping in, or sometimes, like this morning, he will wake up at 8 and then sleep in our bed with us. When we sleep, I have my arms wrapped around him in a hug and I can smell that big poof of hair that he has and feel so lucky for that time. Feel so lucky for the little cuddle. For once he's awake, it's all crazy.
Favorite activities include climbing on the chair and table, then getting onto the window sill four feet off the ground, then throwing ourselves off and laughing hysterically. The little people set are a big hit, and Liam will play by himself, just putting the person inside the garbage truck and taking it out. He played this for fifteen minutes even though the gate to the upstairs was down while I was getting dinner ready one night. Also, getting inside the cupboard is HILARIOUS.
